so i am from ohio and wanted to see how much 3 or 4 of the chicks would cost i already have 28 chickens of diffrent breeds but i want some that came from ohio though well list price and i will get back to you or better yet send me a private message.

I found this web site with a Buckeye breeder directory listed by state. You could check here: http://www.americanbuckeyeclub.org/Services.html Otherwise, Meyer hatchery sells them: http://www.meyerhatchery.com/productinfo.a5w?session.category=Chickens&grd_prodone_filter=PRODUCT_ID%20%3d%20%27BKES%27 but there is a limit and shipping will cost you more than the chickens. I would say they are about low to low-mid range for prices on their chicks. I bought mine from a breeder and was planning on spending at least $3-4/chick, but when she found out it was for 4H, she gave me a break.

I'm a little late but I just wanted to say, "Congratulations!" too and say that the smile on that little gal's face says it all.  That's what the Fancy is all about!

I am having serious issues even finding a spec of time to log on & see what is up.......hope all is well for all. We are starting to order lumber for the house build and I am getting the garden starts IN the soil.................And I am (I really AM ) working on the 2 paintings !!

And I am so done hatching eggs for this year..............I have 2 doz chickens & a few Turkeys eggs in the gQf so it is really looking empty, and when they are done that is it !!!!!!!!!!!

Cronish Cross arrive on May 21, and again on June 15.so we will have 50 to process....yup, I am busy !!

Just thought I'd chime in here now that I am a buckeye owner. We got in 25 LF chicks from Duane Urch for the chick sale. They were supposed to be bantam assortment but he sent largefowl. Out of those, we had cubalayas, cochins, and polish but there were 3 buckeyes. I never thought much of them until they started growing. We had them in with some other chicks for a total of about 100 chicks in the pen. Out of all of those chicks it seemed like only the buckeyes had a 'soul' (best way to describe it for me) since they had personality. All the other chicks blended together and were just birds but the buckeyes always came up to me at the front of the cage and were really cool chickens. They had to go to the sale and I got in a bidding war with a lady. For the 3 chicks (look like 2 cockerels and a pullet) I ended up paying $25.

 I originally planned to use the pullet for a breeding project and was going to cull the cockerels but now I think I'll use one of the cockerels for sexlinks, breed the other pair together for awhile and use the pullet in the other project for the rest of the season.

Well, I'm not sure what that was about.  Of course, you can't expect any of the dual purpose birds to compare to cornish rocksin  the amount of meat in such a short time, it isn't possible with regular chickens, but you can have a decent amount that tastes absolutely wonderful in 18 - 24 weeks.  Comparatively, the carcasses will look scrawney, but there is more flavor packed in to it.  I forget what dressed weight was, I think about 4-5 pounds.  Anybody else?

While this hen does not have good eye color, she is an excellent mother!!

This hen went broody while I was incubating eggs.  I stuck the day olds under her.  It seems that these chicks are not growing as quickly as the chicks I have left in the brooder.  Could it be that because it is colder that they are using energy to keep warm, instead of in a brooder with a heat lamp?  Maybe I just got a bunch of puny chicks(from my own stock).  They are small, but they are the most vigorous chicks I have hatched thus far.
