The Welsummer Thread!!!! - Page 705

Not for me, I am very happy with Purina and my flock has done well with it....better than the custom made feed made at the mill near here...they just can't balance out the feed intake and feed outtakes. AND it smelled BAD!

You're welcome!

Diane, I took a good look athe Wellies and NO, I don't have a roo. But they are beeeeeee u a fullllllll! Yellow legs galore! I see consisency in there too. Line them all up and you can not tell them apart! That is how 'carbon copied" you can get on those chicks!

There are five Wellies and five Ameraucanas. I see a roo or two in the Ameraucanas and someone would LOVe to have a roo! Where did the Ameraucanas came from? I am thinking John Blehm........

They were all Lavender or Lavender split right? (silver and black chicks)  These are from Happymtn.  She basically has her own line since she has been working on these for 4 years.  There is a black split roo in the pen that is Shaffer lines from Lamike.  Sorry about the roos on them, they can only be sexed by vent (or I guess wing tips at 2 days)  I had no idea.  I'm glad I got it right on the Wellies though!

BTW, I seem to be hatching heavy on the pullet side here at the house, so I'm tickled about that!

that's cool, I think our hatches ran a bit cockeral heavy this year.  Looks like we will have 1 or 2 nice pullets for DD to grow as her 4-H project- still watching 4 cockerals-hoping to get it down to 2 here soon.

Hopefully when I put eggs in the incubator they realize that I'm expecting then to all be pullets.

When having problems with chickens stop and think, what would Harlan do?
I've dealt with many thorns in my life and the flower is always worth the effort.

Hi all
My Welsummers are my favorite! One issue however, they never go into their coop at night. They will be out in their yard in the dark. I have to herd them inside every night or they would stay out hunting bugs! Anyone else have this issue?
