How do I find out?

How can I find out if I can keep chickens in my city or county where the information is on the computer?
I would like to know ahead of time before I get any more chickens?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd discuss it with the public librarian.  Animal control is another option but you sound like you may not want to do that.  A better opion may be your county extension agent's ofice.

Many cities and towns have their municipal codes on the internet. Google your city and read  the code or call your city clerk.

There are numerous online databases of local ordinances.  Here are a few: amlegal.com, findlaw.com, municode.com, bpcnet.com/codes.htm

Also, if your town has a website, often you can find a link to your ordinances there.  If it's not easily findable, call your city's offices and ask whoever answers the phone about how you'd find the ordinances.  They may be able to direct you to an online resource, or they may tell you you'll have to come in and look at them.
