Here's Ranger, 9 weeks old, an awesome little Delawegger (Del/EE cross). Have him up for rehoming on BSA. Isn't he cute? His broody mama decided she was done and he isn't thrilled by that so he needs a new home, but he should carry the blue egg gene due to that pea comb.

He is adorable.  I wish I were within driving distance (Kansas).  I may have a roo in my latest group of EE's anyway, though.  I kind of hope it is, but who knows.  These were taken a couple of days ago at 10 weeks.  Anybody care to guess gender?  She/he acts rooish, chest bumping and flying at the others and strutting around, but then so did my (now) top hen last year.  Her/his comb isn't particularly red, either for 10 weeks.

Hmm, sharol, not sure, but at this point, yours seems girly to me.

SHAROL  very pretty girlie looking bird who looks as if she would match up nicely with SPECKLED HEN little male when he grow up some.  Nice pictures, both of yous.

BTW  it is my observation that the chest bumping and teasing of other types is not gender dependent, Juvies of both sex are playful which at times seams rough and tough but is normal as far as I can tell.

Okay, I think I'm starting to unravel a mystery I have with my Easter eggers (who I got from Ideal Poultry). From the start of their feathering, I noticed they weren't the Easter eggers I expected them to be. Today my brain finally connected the dots (partly because I finally decided to check out other breeds) and I think my EEs are displaying a part of their mixed heritage. In this case, I think my EEs are part Speckled Sussex.

July 12. The male (red marker on chin from hatchery with info from them saying it meant he was a he). I'm surprised his comb isn't really developed at this point. I can confirm he is definitely a boy (although a good, non-horny one at this point). Just today I was trying to pick up one of the girls to take her to the cool kiddie pool I had set up for them for the hot days; she shrieked like no tomorrow and all three boys suddenly appeared there - Scratchy, the Delaware, and this EE.

July 12. I'm quite sure this one's a girl, but the boyish stance in this picture worries me.

July 13, with celebratory cake* for reaching the three month milestone.
* Hard boiled eggs.

As you may be able to tell from the pictures, my chicks have a feather picking problem. What I find to be very odd, is that only the EEs are the victims. So far I haven't been able to put an end to it. hmm

Interesting. They actually kinda look like Russian Orloffs. Very pretty though.

Pretty indeed. smile

Russian Orloff certainly is a good fit!

Since I ordered nine "Ameraucana" from a hatchery I assumed they would be EEs. Two of my EEs got mixed up with two dark Cornish (who I still have) and eventually I'll be trading the Cornish for my EEs. From the pictures of my two wayward EEs they look to have slate legs and have different colouring from the rest of my EEs, so I'll be attempting some careful breeding to spread the slate leg love.

I currently have six EEs living with me (my favourite died suddenly a few weeks ago), and they are all like the pictures I have shown (of course with individual differences). If I recall correctly nobody in the hatchery group order made an order for ROs, so either I have EEs crossed with RO or I somehow ended up with ROs. Should I just stop worrying about it and wait until they start laying? hu
