I think I fixed the problem. I used zip tied on the latches. I will have to replace them everyday but better than better than letting my kids get to her again. I also put up this sign I found on google.

We incubated 24 eggs (Welsummer x Ameraucana) and anticipated half to hatch. Well, every single egg hatched!

I'd like to offer at least half of the babies for sale, but want to be sure we keep pea-combed olive egger pullets as much as possible.

So my question for my hoped-for Olive Eggers:  Can their combs be distinguished this early? If so, do any of you have pictures showing us what to select and not select?

Sounds as if you are not in real trouble.  But if I were at the stage to have four year olds. I would have a lock on my coop !  Kids are almost as curious as my german shepherd who can sit and watch the birds for hours and has snacked on quite a few chicks if they escape through the fence.
 

My new babies came in the mail yesterday.  There are supposed to be 11 EE's in there.  I see a variety of color patterns.  Two of them are solid yellow (white?). 

I think this one is an EE, but not sure.  She is different looking than all of the other ones.  I was wondering if she was my free, rare bird; but I don't think I got a rare one after all.  No crest on the head or anything.

This EE in the center is kind of neat looking to me.  I wonder what they will turn into when they grow up.

I see a few with puffy cheeks and that is a good sign for EEs. Chicks change a lot growing up. First they are cute and cuddly, then taller and gangly with funny looking feather coverage and as teens the get feisty and quarrel a lot, then comes their first molt and you will find feather everywhere. Then there is the horrible behavior changes that come with an burst of hormone infusion. Finally the pullets calm down after they start making eggs. But they males, well I am not sure when they get mellow. It takes at least a year for that.

If you search for it there is tons of information here on what chick patterns turn into what adult styles but I do not bother myself with that and just enjoy watching them grow up.  Either way chickens are good entertainment.  ENJOY

has anyone here crossed a Blue wheaten ameraucana roo, with a barrd rock hen? wondering what the off spring will look like? and what color eggs the offspring will lay?

Probably green eggs (not olive) the roos would be barred and the pullets and roos would probably be blue and black. The BR hen will only pass the barring to the roos and the wheaten genes are recessive and the would need 2 copies to show wheaten.  Other than that IDK

Same outcome except all babies would be barred blue or black.... no sex linking that way.  For the wheaten coloring to show BOTH parents have to be wheaten.

Try it both ways and see, I only know enough to be dangerous (that is why I have so many pens )  I just set up an Olive Egger pen with 2 Barred EE pullets and a Blue Copper Marans Roo.... can't wait to see what they produce.  That is the fun of EE and Olive Eggers too.

thanks! I think that's the combination I'm going to use for my 1st breeding experience.. My ameraucanas wont be laying age for another 12weeks or so, and I wont pick up my barred rocks from the local feed shop til next wednesday... so it will be a WHILE before I even begin breeding any chickens, but I'll continue to dream until then! Thanks again for ur help!
