I tried to copy and paste a pic of te bird I was referring to......but since I can't upload a freaking picture I guess I won't. Crap. I had to ask the mods why I can't. But anyway, as usually I am blown away by the pics. I wish I had the time and knowledge. I am thinking bout getting a second iPad or something to take to work to play around with the chicken calculator to learn some of the genectic traits and how they work. Birds today just ain't your granny's chickens anymore. big_smile.png

been thinking of lavendering up some duckwings eventually. Wanted to get the solid lavenders a little better though before I put a lot of effort into breeding a bunch of projects, no sence in having to cull type on all of them yet. Hope this years will do the trick. Then I'll move on to patterns. Think a shojo would look awesome in it

Best way to fix their type is to breed back to pure duckwings. The f1's will probably be mostly black.. Then breed those together.. I would use a lavender bird for the first cross and a golden duckwing.  That way when you breed the f2's you should get some pattern lavenders on the second year.. The pure longtails will only help your type. You get your color and better tails in 2 years. There will also be some solid lavenders from the f2's.. This will get your tails faster and get you new colors..

oh yea, I got all that, and am doing that, just over the german schubert blacks. What I mean was there was no need to have 6 pens of birds going in project phase for both type and color.

Once I'm happy with them type wise  from the lavender x black crossings, then they'll be headed to some duckwing pens.

This way I can get some in both sizes in lavender as well. Those blacks I posted earlier are from that crossing from this year, so they  did clean up pretty quick type wise.  Should get some decent lavenders from this back cross this year I hope.  They should be good enough from there to start color projects off of then. Any small details the need work on should clean right up off the duckwings.

Cy said he was on year 9 with the project from the birds I got, so he's done some work on them, just with lavender being recessive, it takes twice as long because you have that down year type wise when you have to back cross to get the color back

Hey fellow Phoenix lovers! Been a bit since someone posted. I am super excited today. I have been planning to get second tattoo for some time now. Last year, I decided that it would be of a Phoenix rooster. I emailed some examples of Japanese art picturing the Onagadori to my tattoo artist, and this is what he came up with.

I know it is not SOP perfect, but it is beautiful in my opinion. Now I just need to decide on colors. Any suggestions?

I agree, she is very talented. I actually showed the tattoo artist some of the art that she has on her site to give him ideas. I didn't want him to copy her work though. Tattoos are kind of hard, the lines must be different, I am not sure if her paintings would translate well to a tattoo. But I love her work!
