California Whites Thread! Pics Please :)!!!

got my CW from Ace-hardware.. My husband sent me to the store for some chicken... we asked what type ? he said regular uncooked.. so well needless to say I don't have to go to the store anymore and I have really awesome chickens :)

hardware store :) here's mine - not sure what they are yet.. 3 buff orpingtons 2 CW and 2 easter eggers
my CW are a little more standoffish than the buffies and stand a bit taller. I think one might be a roo.. hard to tell but some of his neck feathers look like they are pointing down.. so well see.
from the left sunny (BO) poached (CW) deviled (CW) benedict (BO) and scrambled (peaking out BO)

my son is holding my potential roo.. deviled :)

my Easter eggers are still little

I just bought 2 California white along with 11 golden nuggets (2 died the first day) and 2 silver laced wyonette. I actually found the Cali whites and the silver laced at a feed store.

I already placed the golden nugget (Hoover didn't have buff Orpington) so they are 5 days younger.

All breeds are good but scared to death of me. Kinda sad when they cower and run away when I try to check them.

The CW's are have a cool color. Mine started doing the dirt bath so they look dirty all the time.

Anyone know when they will start being a little more docile or what I can do to get them to be nicer? Lol

I bought two California white leghorns at Wilco today. I didn't realize until igot gomebthatbthey don't have any black specks on them. Does that mean they are a white leghorn? Or do some not have the black spots?

I just brought home a California white rooster today, along with 1 Jersey giant, and 5 buff orpingtons :) have to say, the rooster is kind of a butthead (he is sleeping in the coup, while all the females are cuddled up outside) lol hoping he mellows out a bit

Mine doesn't have ANY black on him AT ALL! He was sold to me as a California White

I love CWs. They are probably my favorite LF. I have gotten them 2 places and Hoover's are great. Hoover's tend to be more easy going and I like their ability to get along with other chickens. The ones I got from Hoover were mixed with EEs, buff Orps, and something else. The CWs out-shined all of them in every department, from growth to inquisitiveness. They are unbeatable as layers. One of my CWs laid 3 oz eggs. They have a much better temperament than Legnorns too. One became my pet hen. Some don't have black spots, and some develop them as they get older.

Wfpendragon, your pullet is lovely.
