What Breed Is She?

I was given this beautiful hen this summer. I live in Vegas and it is very hot.  She was molting when I got her and I swear her feathers came back with a ton more white in them. I think that may be an adaptation to the heat...? Anyways, I think she is a Speckled Sussex because of the brown, black and white but would love to know for sure.

Yep, Definitly a Speckled Sussex, I raise them and the the amount and arrangment of the white can change everytime they molt.

Yeah, I think she's a Speckled Sussex. I've heard they can get more white with each molt. Maybe she's a senior citizen?

She is actually only about a year old. When I got her they had been feeding her only scratch for the whole summer and allowing her to free range in their backyard.  I think thats why she's so fat and it probably aged her early.  Thanks for the confirmation of her breed.

lol.. i think you can have a few hens, but no roosters... but check the zoning so you know...

i'm out north between craig and 215 off 5th

we're zoned ranch estate, we've got 3 goats and a donkey, and um... some birds.. lol...
i'm not sposed to have as many as i have because they consider them livestock and they fall into the 4.? per acre limit... ridiculous....
i'm not sposed to have roosters either though... lol... animal control guy who was parked on my streeet one day said they would only come out and check if a neighbor complained... and i only have 1 close neighbor and he has 3.. lol.. and my other neighbors, no offense intended... are probly too stupid to look up codes if they can even hear my roos at their house.. and my roo is nowhere near as annoying as their dogs....
