Chickie'sMoma :

i think swaps are done for the season but there certainly are a lot of big poultry shows that go on during the winter! always good to do your research into what breeds are out there, what your egg/meat needs are, and how hardy are you really looking for for this area! also, are you looking for birds to be fancy lawn ornaments for showing, or do you just want the eggs & meat?

The swaps are done for this year, but here's the link to the NH Swap thread for 2010 smile Great bunch of folks! smile

OK ... and yes we need too do our research and determine what breeds we would like to start out with... of course we could go to the local feed shops and pick up some chicks in the spring, but not really sure what breds they have too offer.

Lot's to learn... wee

Hi , I am in New Durham New Hampshire. I live on Merrymeeting Lake.  mmlake.org
I have 3 sweet Buff Orphington Hens, they love living and playing on the sandy beach.
I am building them a cute Cottage Coop, hope to finish it before the snow blows.
I am taking pictures as I go along, so I can post pictures later.

Hello from the Barrington area!

Check out Yellow House Farm for started pullets.  May not have any now though.  They raise heritage breeds.
