Hi all, so i hatched this strange colored little dude out of my Mille Fleur D'uccle trio and was wondering what color you would call him??

i have looked on some hatchery websites and im thinking he could be a "brown red" as listed on ideals website? so not a recognized color, but i dont know what they look like young so maybe hes just a weird mix. i dont know the lineage of my parent trio really, the breeder i got them from had 7 breeding pens of this color variety so i assume they are distantly related (if at all).

him with his regular mille fleur colored hatchmate/siblings

i tried to take a better photo of just him, but he didnt want to roost

Not brown red: note that his wing has a brown triangle at the outer end--this is a duckwing pattern, not the crowwing pattern of a brown red, where the wing triangle is not a different colour than the wing. He looks BBR to me, but I am not well versed in the fine tunings of that colour. I think his hackles aren't the correct colour for BBR?

i bought the parent trio at the very end of june and these eggs were set at the begining of august (should be enough time for any previouse roosters sperm to have cleared from the hens), when i got them i had them in a pen with a few australorps that i was growing out, for a few weeks (the australorp cockerals were 10-12 weeks old, which i would think is to young) but i suppose he COULD be Australorp X D'uccle, but hes the same size as the others who are obviously all mf d'uccles, i would have thought a cross would be larger, but i suppose maybe not

eek ill have to wait and see

yes the parents are all d'uccles and have bears/muffs, i got them from a well known breeder in my area. the birds pictured are only 3-4 months old so should get larger bear/muffs as they age (the others i have grown out have developed more as they aged)

He's not a brown red, the color pattern I see is duckwing (although sporadic). I am surely no expert but I had a BBR Old English game roo who would get my big girls occassionally and the chicks usually had that similar wing pattern. He's definately interesting and would be curious to see what he matures into.

The mille fleurs all look to have some amount of beard--he looks to have none, which means it will not fill in (could be pecked or molted out, but it just doesn;t look that way). He have the d'uccle vulture hocks, but there could be some OEGB or similar in his background.

parent hens had no access to oegb unless they retained sperm for over 5 weeks (but i dont think they were in a mixed pen with the previous owner either, so probably not even an option), the ONLY rooster they had acess to other than their d'uccle roo was very young (10-12 week) australorps.

guess ill have to wait long and see what his adult colors are like.

here is my mf d'uccle roo, he dosent have much of a beard i guess, he has muffs though. bought from reputable breeder, and have posted photos on here and got comments he was very nice and possibly a "black" mf due to color of his muffs, idk?
