Duck's Bill Peeling?

I recently got a pair of white calls (early Christmas present!). They seem to be the picture of good health, but a few days ago I noticed that the drake's bill looks almost like its peeling. Its not horrible, I don't think his bill is going to fall off or anything, but its definitely not smooth like his girlfriend's or any of my other ducks. The peeling is on top of the bill near the edge where the feathers start.
They're both in a quarantine cage, so I don't think he could have injured it on something.
Has anyone ever experienced this? Is there anything I can do to help my handsome little guy, or will it go away on its own?
I can try to get pictures tomorrow if it would help... my descriptive skills are lacking.

It happens some times don't mess with it and try to peel it off. Either it will go away by its self or it won't. Be sure to check that there isn't any place for him to have strached or injured his bill.

This is normal, nothing to worry about. It usually happened when it's dry, like in the winter. My indoor ducks get it too, hence why they have their own humidifier... (spoiled rotten ducks. lol)
