What has been YOUR Quietest Breed of Chicken

As a city dweller, having no roosters and keeping quieter breeds of chickens is very important when living close to neighbors. I realize all chickens make some noise with egg song and are not totally quiet. I have a friend about to order chicks for the Spring and with my limited experience with the different breeds, I am looking for others' experience. Thanks, for helping us figure out the best backyard breeds for urban areas! Here is a short list of some of the more commonly kept backyard chickens. I realize there are many more breeds, but I tried to narrow it to ones I have seen recommended over and over to city newbies with families, as well as breeds a bit easier for them to come by.

Excluding roosters and any chicks or pullets that have yet to start laying, in your experience, which breeds as adults have been YOUR Quietest, not necessarily what the breeds are known for? Are there any that you have had that were too noisy for living on a small city lot? Thanks for any additional comments about your experience.

My Polish hens are very quiet. My cochins are sassy & screech at me for treats.

My Wyandottes are my quietest, I rarely hear anything at all from them, but don't know if they'd be noisy without the more dominant birds around.

My Wyandotte is very quiet, too. Only once I heard her and it was loud. She was louder than either of my others. But that was once and she's at the bottom of the pecking order and been quiet ever since.

I don't know about breeds in general, however many people on here do. I can tell you my Barred Rock is very loud just before she lays, other than that just soft squaking. My Delaware sounds a bit like a goose. She's quiet most of the time, but is getting noisier now that she's laying.

But in general mine a pretty quiet MOST of the time. We live in a city, too with neighbors on all sides. No complaints so far!

My Cochins are the quietest I have... minus the crowing. Bantams tend to the loudest.

My Wyandottes are super quiet- don't even make a peep when they lay an egg- just get on the nest- lay their egg and go about their day. The EE's however (one in particular) more than make up for it- she'll announce the wyandotte's eggs and any and all the egg's being laid about to be laid or not being laid and anything else she feels the need to tell the neighborhood.

My Wyandotte is very quiet. plus when she makes noice it is so sweet. My BA is loud and always has something to say.

My red sex links are talkers. I go out in the morning to feed and they cackle and cluck as they follow me around. They squeak, two hens are especially loud when doing "the egg song". The cochin roo is much quieter than they are. He crows once or twice in the morning, once or twice at the neighbor rooster at 2:30 pm (yes, it's always at the same time) and an occasional cluck at me if I'm picking up a favorite hen.

So far it looks like we should definitely have Easter Eggers and Wyandottes on our "best breeds for a city" list for sure. Does anyone have noisy wyandottes, or is this pretty typical of the breed, not just a pecking order thing? Here in our neighborhood the noisier breeds over the last year have been Black Australorp, Red Star, and Speckled Sussex. Right now, my quietest chicken is my Buff Orpington, but my Easter Egger never talked and was lowest in the pecking order.
