Im excited to have 2 JG hens, one white and one black, the black one is conciderably larger though.

So initially I thought Id have a roo.

I got them in April 2012 from my Dad in NH, who got them from a small country feed store, I will ask him what the name of the place was so if anyone would like them in

this area they can contact them.

I have hatched over 50  Jersey Giants pullet this season......ONLY ONE Show quality/Breed quality pullet of the the bunch. Don't get me wrong the other 49 are ok. SO I WANT TO GIVE A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE QUALITY BREEDERS OUT THERE!  I never realized all the stress, work, and time you have put into this project. And the price you ask for that show quality/breeding bird is totally understandable!

So all for the breeders breeding for STANDARD OF PERFECTION keep up the work!!!

This person appreciates your work!

1 out of 50! Gasp, it is hard work, and no one really wants to cull a JG.

I agree 100%, paying the price is reasonable. thumbsup.gif

It's the shape that makes the breed, and the color that makes the variety.

like I mentioned the other 49 are ok  but I have 1 (WOW) pullet and as a person that loves and shows JG you can tell as they are cooped together. She is bigger, thicker, more feminine look, good conditioning, great black color with a deep green sheen, width of head, comb, slope of tail, length from leg to body. Just an over all GREAT LOOKING BIRD.

Now some of the others have some of these things but not all. I only have (6) hens and (2) roosters so I have only been setting a dozen a week. Getting a larger ratio of roos to my pullets. going to fatten the roos out and freeze them for me and the kids this late fall.

I just wanted to tell the breeders that breed to the standard of perfection keep up the good work !

Its a lot of  HARD work and time!!

Hi Everyone,
I posted a while back. I had gotten a couple of JG's that turned out to not be JG's. I picked one up a couple of weeks ago along with some Swedish Flower Hens (reg. standard size chicks). The JG chick was bigger than the SFH's. Now at a few weeks, they're all the same size. So I'm wondering if I got a JG this time around or not? Are they quick growers and should she be much bigger than the other chicks? Thanks!

Is that a beard on the chick on the left? Or are my eyes just playing tricks on me... It also looks like it has pink feet. What do you think everyone?

I thought it kind had a fluffy face too. Here's a better close up. The soles of it's feet are pinkish white.

Thank you for posting some up close pictures!

It doesn't look like a Jersey at all to me. Those feet should be orangey-yellow, and JG's don't have beards like that, PLUS it's comb is pea, not single. I'm guessing an Black Ameraucana or black Easter Egger (EE).

I'm so sorry that you aren't getting any JG's. Hopefully some of the people on this thread can sell you some eggs or chicks. smile.png
