She's a pullet! She's at that scraggely stage!
Occasionally you'll get one who thinks they are a turkey.

Hey y'all I'm back. We are in the process of moving but my lil Chicky is growing nicely.We have decided to keep her after much searching, I have decided I will be ordering some eggs when we move. She is being kept friendly enough my little girl plays with her daily and she'll sit on my lap while I play computer. We have protocols though because no one wants pooped on. I was surprised how easily trained she was.
So Roxy is staying and I will be building a coop at the new house for many more chicks to join her.
@Jan awwww...
@ the old chick Hehe well the breed was supposed to replace turkey's maybe this chicken knows...
Hi, Giant friends! ![]()
Been awhile since this thread rolled along...hoping everyone's hatching, culling, showing.....
Pop in & let us all know of your Giant activities!
For my part, I am growing out a trio from the same breeder that I got my last (AWSOME!) batch from. These three are from a different pen of hers, and they are growing out much differently than the other batch. Gorgeous birds, to be sure. They are a bit skittish - I don't spend a ton of time with my birds, so they're not super friendly, and not used to me getting pictures. But, I'll try to do so this weekend. They are now 18 weeks and looking quite nice. I culled down to these 3 from the hatch, and I think they will make nice additions to my Giant flock.

I hatched out 6 JG eggs that were shipped to me and I got 2 Blues and 4 Blacks. Low and Behold, I have 5 cockerels and one pullet. I am now on the lookout for a pullet or two to add to go into winter with, or I'll try and get some more eggs and do a fall hatch. I am thinking about attending a few close shows to upstate New York this fall. Might even try to get to New Jersey in the fall. Is anyone else heading to New Jersey?
My cockerels are 16 weeks old and have been crowing for 2 weeks now.

Lets start off with our very sad news......My son Austin Love's the Giant breed pick them as the one he would show and grow with. So I let he get a young pair from Bobbi Portio in Fl three yrs ago. He named them Samson and Delilah, well any one that knows biblical trivia Samson and Delilah had no children together. As in the bible our Samson and Delilah never produced one chick. Delilah died at the age of two due to (coon). That brings me to Samson. Samson was Austin's pride and joy he loved that bird he would carry him around with him and walk him like a sheep. Samson had his very own pen made out of hog panels. This fair season would have been Samson third trip to the county fair. This bird was in great condition. to say the least. This summer was the first summer the boys got to stay home by them selves. Many of days I would get home from work and find Samson in a cage on my kitchen floor. Austin would tell me that he looked to hot so he just brought him in. As long as there were no poo on my floor I had no problem with it. Any to the sad part. At our county fair the chickens go in on Tues. but on Monday I had to have Austin down at the fair for his archery shoot off at 11:00. So we watered Samson and all others in the same building and off to the fair we went. Austin won GRAND Champion Archery over all divisions. It took until 3:00pm in the afternoon for us to get all photos. We got home at 3:30 pm and Samson was DIED in pin. I had one heart broken boy. Said he would give back the ribbons and tropies to have SAMSON back. Austin got 4 hens and a cock from Bob Vaughn at crossroads last fall and had bought some chicks from Bobbi spring be for last. This is his main flock. He has hatched a lot this spring and summer. Named these new Giants Abraham and Sara, Elizabeth, Ruth...be gets Father Abraham>>>>>we are getting chicks from this group Austin said.
We took a pullet and a cockerel to the INDIANA STATE FAIR the judge loved them just a little to young. Wants Austin to keep showing them wants to see them in 3-4 months.
So back to the drawing board.
