Took some getting used to, but once the big waterer outside froze, they started using these that we put inside the coop.  Keeps from freezing, and they don't seem to be able to poop in it like the other ones

I don't understand why they don't freeze. What kind of water bottles are they?

All I want is for someone to put their arms around me, kiss my forehead and tell me everything is going to be alright.

I guess it doesn't get that cold there? Otherwise, I don't see how they keep from freezing either.

That was what I was thinking too, because that would freeze solid as a rock here.  I plan on using the cookie tin heaters.  I think for my needs they will be fine.  My egg guy told me he just gives hot water twice a day and it has worked for him for years.  I am not lazy but if I can rig up something small like that, that will save me one trip of carrying water.  I call it being sufficient!!!  wink

they don't freeze because they are inside the heated henhouse.

It looks like any water bottle would work.

Where did you get the little gizmos they empty into?

Love the idea of something they will have a hard time pooping in.  Geez, those chickens!
