I am looking for a good beginner BANTAM! I want:

- good layer
- calm, quiet hens (won't have any roosters)
- friendly, easy to handle, even cuddly! Definitely looking for a lap chicken!
- rare breed or color would be a plus.

Things that do not matter:

- broodiness
- egg color

Any recommendations? I've narrowed it down to a few breeds but I'm really looking for experienced opinions because I can't decide! I've looked into D'Uucle, Cochins, Silkies, Polish, and Serama. These birds will be pets used for laying, no showing or breeding or eating.

OLD ENGLISH GAME BANTAMS!!!!!! i'm very involved in 4h and show these in both 4h and "real" shows. these guys are small, friendly, adaptable, very cold hardy, quiet and are the best breed for showing

FAVEROLLES!!!! They meet every one of your criteria!!! Salmon and blue salmon faverolles are the most beautiful, cute, and friendly birds I've ever seen.

Cochins and silkies aren't really good layers like faverolles and I have heard of mean cochins and silkies. Ha ha I only like miniture real chickens ha ha.

hello! like a lot of ppl on here i am trying to convince my parents to let me have a chicken. i have had a bunny, hamster and we had a family dog but my mom isn't really a big fan of birds. chickens are allowed in my neighborhood. i have a plan to make a poster and essay and the coop idea and how i would help with the money. any other tips??? chicks come to my farm store around end of February/march time so i am hoping to get their approval before then. my dad was a farmer so he doesn't care that much about the animal part more of the responsibility part. any help would me much obliged!!!
