This is kind of an interesting post. This rooster is not a show stopper, but he's obviously pure-bred. The breast color is very good and the nice yellow legs and apparent size indicate pretty strongly that he is from good bloodlines. Does that mean that he is show quality, breeder quality, pet quality? How do you classify show/breeder/pet quality at your farm?

To me, this bird is show quality. He might stand in the bottom half of some classes at some very competitive shows, but he's really a pretty fair bird. What is your system?

With the spurs he has he is deffinately over a year old and body type is poor overall. I dont show but try to breed towards the standard as best I can. To me he looks like a lot of back yard silver laced wyandottes. I dont have a system per say just hatch lots and cull down to the best. I guess this is Why I have a problem with people selling show quality eggs lol. See a lot of blrw eggs that are from best of show winners and I always email for an explanation of how that can be. Best answer was I dont know but it won.

This last 1 is my resident cripple, he/she doesn't walk around much lays down alot, and seems to always be at the squat, my stupid white rock roo's are trying to breed it, and I'm almost sure it's a cockerel.

I'd say you could hide them here for a while , but I'd need help with housing them!

It's a matter of some variation in the farming world: every cow on my place has a name, and an individual record keeping number. That doesn't mean we don't eat them, nor does it mean we view them as pets, just individuals with individual genetics and histories.
