First, watching a runner duck run is awesome. They can find their own food. They aren't like pekins in water. Mine haven't started laying but I heard their decent.

Its not as fat and slow as a pekin, but its not frail either. I want a mallard but I don't want a flying bird. The rouen is great for that.

They are my calmest birds and are easiest to catch. They eat less than Pekins. I heard they also lay well, but mine are younger.

Thank you guys. I found a good home for all of my White babies that hatched and a few more colored ones. I decided to go ahead and sell the "smutty" laced chicks i have right now too but am keeping a Buff cockeral, he's just too sweet! =D

I haven't had a chance yet to take pics of the Splash & other new babies... The weather thinks it's still Winter or soemthing, the rain just wont stop and the sky has been really overcast if it's not raining. I am SO ready for the NICE Spring weather!

So sorry that you lost those 2. I hate it when they come so far in the egg and then they just dont make it.

Orpingtons are the best breed. Fluffy butts, huge eyes and such a friendly temperament.....what more could you want?

Buff hen X Buff Laced roo =)

He will have some white in him(i can already see it) but I still think he will fit in good with my 3 Buff hens. He's quite a stocky little thing so I am hoping he will be built more like his "moms". I have another one that I think is a roo but not near as friendly as this guy!
