JANUARY HATCH-A-LONG come join in  

I have 4 bantam salmon and blue salmon faverolles eggs developing in my bator they are from my birds and are due on the 19th. Nikki from Hattricksilkies just sent me out 2 dozen eggs from salmon and blue salmon faverolles and blue laced red wyndotte bantams. I will also probably be setting some of my own eggs with them this weekend. Good Luck everyone happy incubation and hatching many of our first new 2010 birds!

I put 5 fertile silkie eggs under one of my girls who's gone broody on the 6th of january (midday) so I'm with ya, this is only my second time hatching eggs and both times its been under a broody, here is a pic of the last 3 that hatched they are 5 weeks old this sunday

I have a broody serama hen who has two eggs that look as if they should hatch in a week or less if all goes well! She has four other developing eggs, too, that I plan on putting in my incubator when it arrives. It'll be my first time hatching anything in an incubator--I'm excited and really hoping for some serama chicks!

I have 6 BLRWs from Janie Marie (BYC)  and 5 EEs from poultryhollow (eBay) in the incubator now set to go on lockdown on the 13th and hatch on the 16th.  I am expecting a shipment within a week or so of 3 BCMs, 3 GCMs, and 3 Blue Ameraucanas from Julie Gabbard.  Looks like they might be my Groundhog's Day hatch! 

I have 3 different staggered hatches due this month.   I wish I had a broody hen about now lol.  I may have to look into getting a silkie or two

I just bought 2 chicks and their mamma a few days ago.. the chickswhere born on 1-1-10! And i have eggs pipping and zipping today so wish me luck!

I'm in, and super glad you started this thread.  I'm trying for my first hatch ever.  I got my Octagon 20 Eco on Monday and just put the eggs in today at about 1 PM.  Some of them were eggs I had put in the fridge before realizing I would be getting the bator.  The rest I've been storing as I gather them.  They are all from my hens, Buckeyes and Buff Chanteclers.  I have two roos, one of each, so I might get an interesting cross on some.  I'll just be happy if any hatch!

I weighed all of the eggs before putting them in the bator.  The Brinsea booklet suggests doing an egg weight loss curve to assess the humidity throughout incubation.  Has anyone else tried that?  I'm a little hesitant to pull the eggs out and weigh them once they are in there for awhile.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I will be setting some eggs this evening when I get home from work!  I received 14 shipped Silkie eggs from Oldtimegator yesterday and 32 Silkie eggs this morning from her friend Mary in GA.  I have a total of 23 B/B/S, 20 White, and 3 cuckoo going in.  I think I went a little crazy with the silkies 

With both sets of shipped eggs it looks like I have 3 B/B/S and 1 white with detached air cells, and 2 B/B/S and 5 white with odd shaped yolk (maybe scrambled?).  I am going to set them anyway and see what develops.  They wont be turned for 2 days to see if the air cells reattach. 

I have 46 going into the bator with 35 of them looking good.  Now to keep my hands off until I can candle, that is going to be the hard part.
