Free kittycat, not counting vet bill!!!

A little sick cat showed up on our farm a couple of months ago. No collar, tags, or tatooes. Incredibly cute chocolate point himalayan. She was sneezing an awful lot and it was cold so into the house she came. Thankfully fully litter trained and obviously someone's pet. After asking around, and not having anyone claim her, we took her for her first vet appt. I bought ear mite drops and amoxicillin for about 60 bucks. She wasnt any different after finishing all of her meds so I called back and they said sometimes himalayans have trouble with their nasal passages and she will always be sneezing out mucous. I explained it was greenish and slightly bloody at times and she said there was nothing more they could do for her. So off we went on Monday for a second opinion and spent 56.00 for the appt, 18.65 for clavamox, and 26.95 for enisylF paste. A grand total of 110.57. Ouch!! How does the get in the door price compare with where you live? I am in southern Manitoba
 
Well, we got a free kitty, too about 8 months ago and have grown to love her. A couple of weeks ago she got a hold of a string and swallowed a long portion of it. $396 later and a surgery and a week at the vet she is back to her sweet self. And I have always said that I would never have a cat and never an inside cat.

Our vet charges $35 for a office visit but that's for the first time in with a pet. Then I've been back in and they only charge me for the meds. I love my vet and he saved my minpins life when he was 8 weeks old. My dog loves to go there he can't get of of the car fast enough and the girls just baby him to death. I have to add that he got caught in the metal foot rest of our chair and it closed on him. It tore his diaphram and his liver and his whole insides was falling into his chest area. Broke 3 ribs it scared me to death. Vet said he was so small he couldn't get his fingers inside to sew him together hardly. That was a total of $760.00 but all the check up visits were free.

Good luck rehoming the kitty, I know you will find somebody to take him. Everyone recommended me to use Craigslist.com, try that out. I just decided to keep the two I brought in after the second round of vet bills... Sounds like we're all suckers.

LOL.....we arent rehoming the little monster, she is sleeping on her fancy shmancy chocolate colored mat in the kitchen. Acting just like the princess she is!!
 
Lucky kitty to find someone so loving and caring! Animals seem to know to show up at our place, too. Had this beautiful dog show up at our place about ten years ago - looked and looked for his owner, but never found them. Took him to the vet and, of course, he had heartworm. $750 later we decided to keep our "free" dog! Our vet charges $49 just to walk in the door and no "free" follow-up visits, although he does give a discount depending on what it is. Because of this policy, I've become very good at removing stitches!

No, they don't charge full fee, but $25 (plus the 20 minute drive to their office) for something that takes me two minutes is more than I'm willing to pay. I do like them - they are always very informative and try to give as many treatment optiions as possible, which is why I stick with them.
