Let me see if I can illustrate what I'm talking about...
Here's Clyde last year:
See how it's a constant shape? The U-shape is intact all the way along the back? See how there's no "break" in the back that defines the back against the tail?
Then there's another bird that I'm not too fond of...he's much younger, but it shows the difference fairly well:
See how his tail "breaks" the line of his back? He's not even a year old yet...so I'm letting him grow out to see how he'll look. I believe I like his younger brother better..even though the brother doesn't have a tail yet.
