Other than a mixed chicken, I'm not certain. Most folks say she must have some game in her, but since she was found just before laying age in a park, there's no way to know for sure. She lays 5 or 6 eggs a week, however, and she is quite the tame hen.

Thank you from Brandy and me. I can only tell you that she isn't a purebred hen. She's a mix of some sort. The rare breeds society folks seem to believe she has some game bird in her. So do most folks who have tried to help me identify her. Folks in the UK have thought she had some Wheaton in her. Her legs are green. She's a tame mutt, that's for certain. My husband found her in a local park and caught her in a cat carrier with some wild bird seed. A few weeks after we got her, she laid her first egg and has been laying 5 or 6 a week regardless of the weather. They are medium size cream colored eggs. It's amazing that a predator didn't get her while she was living coopless in the park. I drove my husband nuts until he finally had the pen built with a wire top due to hawks.

I have heard so many horror stories from Mississippi chicken owners about predators of which we have many that I don't allow Brandy to free range without literally following her around (when she isn't following me!) I am gradually taming the 3 new birds so they can get out of the pen by spring hopefully. It will be scarier since two are the worlds tiniest bantams, Silky Seramas - hen 1 yr. old and roo 2 1/2 yr. old. The other bird, a young Ameraucana, should be about full grown by then. She lives in a pen in the coop for the time being for feeding purposes.
