Araucana thread anyone? - Page 7

You can't, they will pluck, pluck pluck.....  Those of mine with small tufts do seem to keep them longer and then they grow back nicely at molt and last for awhile.

Our two large white males have managed to keep there tufts...their in with 8-9 hens and they have not picked them out of the males.

of course those two boys are a bit pushy and young and have that pen under there strict command big time..

but yes it can be frustrating at times.. when they have them, get the pictures then so at least you can see them often..

we don't show here so are birds are penned in breeding groups 24-7-365 days a year, so the loss of tuft feathers is always risky..but the benefit is good fertility for the most part..

I have some of skyblueegg, eggs in my bator now cant wait to see how many hatch!  I think they are BYC members?

How's the hatch going?   Did you have the eggs shipped and how many did you get? I keep looking at her auction on e-bay and am dying to bid, but I'm not sure about the weather for shipping..........   Do you have other eggs in the bator also?  Oh, and yes they are on BYC.

How exciting! You have to give us updates as the hatch progresses, and of course, PICTURES when they hatch!  Did they come to you through the mail?

It's wild how different the NZ and Australia  Araucanas are from the American Araucanas.  I would love to know more about the original birds and the history of the different lines, how and when they took off in such different directions.   Genetics is such fun!  I'm so glad you posted these picks.  Do you have any photos of egg color?

I also have currently hatching day 22 and already 3 have hatched these are from midsumermoon I think also a BYC member.  I will post pic soon

any of you araucana people in Louisiana?  I have a few araucanas.....some rumpless, some tailed and very few tufted.  I could use a little assistance with some of my color varieties.  Please PM or e-mail me.
