Fruit can STOP Hens from Laying??

I received the Meyer's Hatchery catalogue the other day and I noticed on Page 6 under "Housing Laying Hens" they say
"Don't feed fruit to layers, since it can cause them to stop laying and it may take as long as six weeks for them to start again."

I've never heard of that before - is that true? I would imagine you'd have to feed ALOT of fruit to get that result, but I thought I'd ask. Anyone know?

Meyer is probably talking about feeding birds entirely on fruit, and they probably suffer from calcium issues. These are things that large scale operations that buy tons of food at a time need to worry about.

No fruit or treats, no eggs per my rooster. He guards them until the treats are doled out then its help yourself to the eggs.
