Update on the lone viable egg. It hatched today

a week after, I added another dozen eggs this time from Trader Joe's. I candled last night and found ony 3 to be good (hatch date will be on 5/25). If they hatch I'll add these hatchlings to the lone chick that hatched today to keep him/her company.

Hey, does anyone have a picture of older Rock Island chicks? I put 12 of them into my new incubator (hatch date 06/19/10) to try it out and like all of you I am extremely curious about the outcome.

My trader Joe's eggs hatched today, a day late ! out of 12 eggs bought i set 11 eggs, left out one because it's air cell was totally scrambled and it was cracked. So 5 chicks hatched, 1 died hatching because the bottom of a previously hatched chick got cuped over his eggs where he started hatching

, and one eggs that internally pipped and is moving so it should hatch later today or tomarrow, and 4 quiters

all in all i'm satisfied 6/11 hatched ( hopefully 7/11)

RIP, poor baby chick that suffication had been his timeless end

Congrats on the successful hatch!

From my own personal experience, yes, those eggs can get scrambled in transit and so any chicks hatched is a good hatch!

I will try again at some point, but my brooder is still full and there's only so much room at the inn.

Well, I candled yesterday and it appears that 10 out of 12 of the store bought Rock Island Fertilized eggs are fertile and developing. I am impressed at the fertility ratio. We will have to see if any hatch. They are due on the 19th.

Anyone heard of the Halfway Market chain? I have 2 of them within 10 miles of me & after calling them, found out they sell eggs. Not sure if they're hatchable but I think I'll go find out!
