okay chick4chix!Alex- I would be candling - soooo exciting to see the little spiders. You can candle an egg that is not fertile or incubated and you will see right through it and see the yolk shape- when you candle your fertile, incubated eggs, you should see a tiny spider looking shadow that is the beginning embryo. As soon as you see it - you will know- there is no mistaking it! If all the eggs don't have them- don't worry, sometimes it's hard to tell on day three- but you should be able to see a couple of them. Here is a photo of a candled egg on day three. Make sure you go into a room with NO light- you need complete darkness to see it. Keep us posted!
cluck-cluck- you're funny! I'm the same way- can't keep myself from looking. Let us know what you see- cause I know you're gonna look!If you don't see anything yet, don't give up on them and toss 'em! Give them some time
Hummm, mine are at 29 hours, LOL, wonder if I should take a peek? LOL
i saw darkened yolks also. some were a bit lighter though. does that mean anything? Now ONLY because you said that, did I look
All I saw was darkened yolks which I don't see when fresh. When fresh they look really clear, can't tell there is a yolk, but now there is a distinct darkness where the yolk should be... Not very dark, just a light shadow

Alex the chicken- I'm sure you will see spiders soon- the shadows are good. Sometimes it's REALLY hard to see anything like "whatdidido" said- especially if there is ANY ambient light coming from anywhere. You sometimes need to gently turn the egg around too while your eyes become accustomed to the dark and what you are looking for and also because it will only show on one spot.i saw darkened yolks also. some were a bit lighter though. does that mean anything?
Good luck with the serama eggs. They have been my absolutely most difficult shipped egg to hatch. I've had other people tell me the same thing. I tried them at least four times, with a couple of dozen eggs each time. I have exactly two birds to show for it. At least it is an unrelated cockerel and pullet. On top of that, I hatched 14 from my own eggs...................12 cockerels and 2 pullets!!!!I know, it is exciting, LOL. I can't wait until my Serama eggs show up, I'm making a new incubator for them now. I'll have 27 to set, and room for 30, LOL. I hope I have luck with them!
At least these guys will probably be fine.
I wonder if I could buy some Sultan chicks to be delivered when these guys hatch? LOL, Don't tell hubby though!!! I'll just tell him they're strange looking leghorns,
