Bay Area BYCers!

I don't know if this has been done already but,

Hello to all who live in the Bay Area!

frow

Let's use this thread as a place to chat, post pics of our urban (or not-so-urban) flocks, share info on where to buy feed/supplies, and etc.

---

I'm Jeremy, from Oakland. I recently purchased a home here in the city and will be expanding my flock to 32 in the next couple of months. I've currently got Delawares, Buff Orpingtons, Australorps and a Cuckoo Marans roo. I'll be adding heritage Delawares, more Buffs and 'Lorps, BW Ameraucanas, a White Leghorn, a Black Minorca, a Golden Laced Polish and a few Silkies to my flock this spring. (don't worry, fuzz butt pictures are guaranteed.)

Greetings from Santa Cruz to the Bay Area frow

New chicken parent here, only past 9 months and now I've got the chicken bug...bad love

I WANT to get more chicks this month, I am planning to add 2 Easter Eggers and 2 Golden Sex Links jumpyjumpyjumpyjumpy to my little flock of four.

Ricky rules the roost, Miel (Honey) is second in charge, then Dominique #3 and Buttercup #4 last place in the pecking order hide

I drove up to the East Bay for a Chickenstock in Walnut Creek (July 09?) and we also had a small get together at the Santa Cruz County Fair in Sept 09.

Yay! Life in the thread!

I feel like Santa Cruz can be part of the Bay Area, craigslist recognizes it, so it's okay by me!

Look into Ameraucanas- they're guaranteed to give you a blue egg. (I'm guessing this is why you want EEs?) I'm getting some Blue Wheaten hatching eggs soon and I am very excited! love.

We can't possibly be the only people in the Bay here on the forum... caf

Monterey Bay Area woot Yeah, a little far from SF Bay Area, but close enough for CL.

Yes, 2 baby pullet Ameraucanas please, in three short weeks.

Lots of other people from our area, another "Where am I?" thread is listed as Northern California, I will find it and bump it to the top of this forum section.

Hi, I'm in the Bay Area and I'm brand new. If anyone feels like recommending their favorite local feed store or other useful resource I'd be all over it.

Keep

My favorite feed store is down here. Chicks for sale...come get some chicks...new arrivals coming at the end of Feb and beginning of March.

Scotts Vally Feed Store in Scotts Valley, CA. They have lots of feed choices including organic chicken feed and mini-pellets (not available at most stores), I forget the name of the mini-pellet brand.

Welcome to BYC!

Depending on where your at, there's a couple. I use the 3 closest to Oakland.

Concord Feed in Concord has everything. Mike's Feed and Pets in San Leandro carries a good supply of general purpose things, however they don't carry Layena. They've got a layer pellet feed that doesn't seem to be the same quality, but if you're in dire need then it'll do I guess. And Close Feed and Supply in Hayward is a small store that has all the essentials you'd need. They'll even sometimes order things that you specifically want.

All three places are great and they all carry chicks in the spring! jumpybig_smile
