Does anyone have any ideas as to where we could host this meet? Tressa, I know you mentioned maybe at your home in Concord? Would you be willing to host a large group of us?

Does anyone else have any other suggestion as to where we could get together this spring?

Cheryl, the ranch would be FANTASTIC! If not, we could use our East Bay SPCA facility in Dublin or Oaklands - really nice kitchenette and conference room opening to a big grassy areas with chairs. And of course plenty of dogs and cats to look at :)

3 pit bulls, 1 chihuahua, 4 alpacas, and way, way too many chickens...

Hey Alison, I think it would be fun too, but maybe it's not for the whole group.  If Jeremy wants to hold it somewhere else, we can just have a small get together at the ranch instead...

Here is the information so peeps can mull it over.

We can do a party at the ranch for $200 total/$50 an hour (I think we paid something similar last year), have will have full run of the place and can hold a chicken swap in the parking lot as you come into the ranch!

Possible dates are...

Saturday, March 31

Sunday, April 1

Saturday, April 7

Timing 12pm - 4pm

We'd have access to picnic tables & small kitchen.  At the ranch there are also Alpaca, goats & sheep pens, bunny pens, horses and a turkey! It's very beautiful and everything now is being changed over to a permaculture system.

We can also arrange for a guest speaker on a subject if people would like that, and/or have games like horse shoes, etc

Hi All,

Sienna Ranch sounds nice.  FYI the local Marans people are having a get-together on March 31st, so I don't know if that matters to anyone but me when choosing a date for a picnic.  I can always picnic hop...!

Hope everyone is well.  I was on vacation, then of course work pays you back for having fun...

Updates from Healdsburg...My Splash Marans are back from the Land of Molt (similar to the Land of OZ, but scarier!) and so I have hatching eggs if anyone is intersted!  Got a 1st place in the Stockton show with them, too!  Both Wheaten AM's that I kept from my last March Blehm chick order are also done molting, and look spectacular!  I'll have to post a photo...of them in their new nesting boxes!  Yippee!!  (Thanks to Judy and Cheryl's helping hands!)  Making a new pen for meat birds and BOYs.  Any comments on what to get for meat bird chicks?

I have about 4 hatches I want to do NOW and no stinkin' broody hens this year at all!  Last year I couldn't PAY my cochins not to go broody... (OK, bribe with treats, I mean.)  GRRR...  I can't believe I'm thinking of doing chicks...what a pain.  Here, broody broody...  Here, broody broody....

Cheers!

I looked up Emma Prusch Farm Park, it sounds like a really amazing place.

Here's the website so everyone can check it out, http://www.pruschfarmpark.org/.

A map of the park, open the image in a new tab to see a larger picture.

I'm thinking this site might be better suited for a large gathering though, I don't think what Cheryl had in mind for the Ranch was a large Regional event like we do every year, where everyone is included. This park looks like it could be a great space though that could easily house all of us crazy chicken folk from all over the Bay Area.
