Charlie, clarity needed please: I see some use the words Jublilee and others calling them Mille Fleur, is there not a difference in the two??
I have a "mille" orp project in bantam, it is not what I would consider jubilee or diamond jubilee, I believe it is what would be called mille fluer as they are missing the white coloration that SS gives them. I am on F2 (3/4 orp) at the moment waiting for them to grow out to cross. I have cockerels with three different patterns all very beautiful and black pullets and a buff that has lots of black underneath.

'Jubilee' is not a colour description per se but the name given to the tricolor phenotype in the Orpington. The 'Jubilee' refers to the Diamond (60th) Jubilee of Queen Victoria, in whose honour the breed was named as it was first shown in that year, I think 1897.
Jubilee Indian Game is a different color altogether.
Mille fleur (thousand flowers) is one of the terms used to describe the tricolored plumage pattern, others are porcelain, speckled (as in Sussex), even spangled (OEG) but the last one is quite a misnomer.

HenThymes, you're question confused me a bit, but chook explained it well. It is the tricolor that make a mille fleur pattern (also called jubilee in some countries). Mille fleur/jubilee is a red base with a black chevron and white tip (mottling). This is the coloration we are working towards on our orpingtons. That is great to hear someone is working on this in bantams as well. What did you use in your primary cross for the bantams? Do they have speckled sussex in bantams?

That's right Adam! I don't know how I forgot that. Thanks for reminding me. I wonder if this is what HenThymes is using or another breed? It would be great to compare notes on the development of large fowl and bantam jubilee orps.
