good egg layers

Thread Starter

What breed is a small to medium sized chicken that is a good layer, can handle the cold (down to 20*f sometimes in winter, usually 40*f) and would be easy to handle and care for, for a first time chicken owner.  Thank you.

Any of the sex link birds that you can get at any hatchery should work well.

You have 2 hands, one for helping yourself and one for helping others.

Mom to 2 teenage daughters, one super husband, 6 horses, 4 dogs, 3 cats, and lots of chickens.

My red sex-links are egg machines!!  And they start laying really early, like 18 weeks
