Cayenne Pepper - Got it - Now what!

Ran across this thread, wondering if giving 2 month old pullets redpepper flakes wild hurt? Giving them garlic along with brewers yeast. Have yet to get DE, week do that this week. Any tips?
 
I just wet some layer mash add a few table spoons of cayenne pepper and in 2 days eggs are rolling in.l will advice any breeder or hobbist to ad some oyster shells for a calcium boost egg laying drain them from calcium
 
I have some ghost pepper on hand. I was wondering if it would be ok instead of Cayenne Pepper? Found a "Scoville Scale" (I think this is hotness scale) Cayenne 30,000-50,000 and Ghost Pepper 855,000-1,041,427.
Since chicken do not have a capsaicin (8-methyl-N-vanillyl-6-nonenamide) receptors (learning this today!).
 
If it works...use it. Taking action is better than just talking about it and waiting for someone else to prove it or not. The someone else could be you!!
 
Doesn't cayenne pepper burn their little mouths? It's pretty hot stuff
Chickens have very few taste buds around 20 or so and the taste buds are less refined than most animals.
There sense of taste is very poor compared to most animals.

- Swine around 14,000 taste buds
- Humans around 10,000 taste buds

Better than cayenne pepper, Tai Peppers, found in the bulk bins at the grocery store produce section. Handle with utmost care as they are super hot. They are very inexpensive. I put them into a food processor and grind them up then feed to the chickens who are enthusiastically fond of them.

But a word of warning. Be careful that you feed in a container with steep sides so they don't end up on the ground mixing with the bedding, sand or straw. When mixed with dust, it becomes air-born and will give you severe sneezing fits.
