Black austrolorps good for laying eggs?

About their crowing, the rooster we have crows a couple times in the morning then is quiet for the afternoon once in a while in the afternoon but its not annoying... The beautiful bantams we used to have crowed every second of every day. My husband couldnt stand them anymore. I had learned to tune them out but you could just see his disdane for that constant noise..constantly saying lord I wish they would shut up for a minute.. its a lot more peaceful now, but I miss the lawn ornaments crowing away.

Oh, I loved my black aussies. I still have one but she's old now and not laying very many eggs. I do have one of her daughters who is a black aussie/EE mix and she's adorable and lays me some pretty ugly looking olive eggs.

I have several young black Australoups that I hatched from eggs recieved on a swap. They are not laying yet but are very close. They are all very tame. So tame that they are constantly underfoot when I go to the run. My run is open top and they have not even attempted to fly out. Their feathers have a greenish sheen to them and are very pretty. I read here on BYC that they are a high egg producer. I say go for it.
