Shetland Ducks - Page 2

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

So cute!!! Love the one of the duck in pic 2! Is it in your house? Pic 1 is real sweet! 2 ducks walking together! Very cute pics! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! Yes that is my kitchen. Drake was in a fight with his brother over the duck in pic 1. They are now a "couple" as you see in pic 1. It would be neat to be able to get Shetlands now that I know about them. Thanks for bringing them to my attention.

These Shetland ducks are far too white for the breed. Ideally there should only be a small chest patch. If you look at www.burlandcrofttrail.co.uk you'll find one of the saviours of the breed in Shetland. There is also information on other Shetland breeds, livestock and crops.

59 Shetland sheep (+34 lambs), 4 Shetland ponies, 10 Ixworths and 14 mixed breed chickens (+14 chicks), 8 Shetland ducks (_ 1 duckling), 3 Muscovies, 1 Border Collie, 2 cats, 5 goldfish, more to come.

All named, full of character and loved dearly.

hey there, nice to see you on this thread! frow
for those who haven't met LynnR yet, lynn lives in the shedland islands, right where the one of the only purebred shetland ducks was found... the foundation of the breed restoration the burland croft trail folks are doing.

----------
chickens, geese, turkeys, ducks, guineas, sheep, goats, draft and light horses, cats, herding dogs, livestock guard dogs, bees, mealies... (what, no cows? no llamas?), a very cool hubby who takes it all in stride and builds what they need.

Whistle my Shetland duckling.

Whistle my newest addition to the flock. 1 day old.

Whistle my Shetland duckling.

Whistle 5 weeks old. A lovely bib marking in fluff state but I see black coming through in it already. I was hoping Whistle's markings would stay pretty much the same but not the case it seems. Whistle's mum is my blackest marked duck Osh (see previous post).
