Is it normal for black Silkies to have a lot of white/gray on them as week old babies? It's mainly on their bellies and feet. Will this grow out or is it a hatchery thing?

This is my one and only  "slkie" cockerel.  I hope to have many more since I love this dude. He is so funny doing his dance and protecting "his girls" none of which are silkies so far. I do have some eggs in the incubator and waiting to see the results.  Only Two silkies,  both from bearded splash eggs shipped from NY.   fl.gifIMG_0777.JPG

His name is Victor and I believe he is from CJsilkies in PA

I think tha he is gorgeous and i need more.  If my eggs do not hatch and even if they do I will be looking for additional beautiful silkies

ScaredOfShadows the chicks in your pictures are just gorgeous.  Sure hope they grow up nicely.  Wish that I could have such a successful hatch especially from shipped eggs. How far did the eggs need to travel and were they shipped or picked up ?

That is FANTASTIC!!!  I would be jumping up and down if I had any eggs actually developing!!  I still have some in my incubator I'm giving a shot, but I think might be clear, too.  There are a few of them I can't tell.  I was making french toast the other day, and one hen's eggs were infertile, and the other one was fertile.  I about fell over, I couldn't believe it.  But I have a feeling it might have been a fluke??  I don't know.  Anyway CONGRATS on your silkie eggs!!  I hope they hatch for you.  :)  My little broody is sitting on two eggs I let her keep, but I'm pretty sure they are infertile.  I'll probably go ahead and try to candle them in a couple more days and see.  Shes already had them for at least 4 days or so.

Adorable!!!!  And congrats on your hatch!!  It looks like you had a GOOD hatch!  That's quite a few babies!  Are they yours or were they shipped eggs?

ahhh-- I didn't read down far enough yet.  Yay on having an amazing hatch from shipped eggs!!  Tell me something-- do you think they still had a shot if their air sac had come loose?  I just got shipped eggs and 5 have intact sacs-- they others are loose and wiggle when I turn the egg.  But I can still clearly see the air sac...  Hope your girl starts laying again!
