I wanted to share a picture of Cali from yesterday. She has some red in her crest from the sun.

I have more shade for them in their pen now, so I'm hoping that will help after she molts..

It's my experience that the silkie boys just loove a bantam cochin girl!  This seems a great idea!

I also had to laugh over the purple/blue shampoo exchange.  Not cause I have any experience with it--sounded like a great idea to me, too, at first--but I did hear once about a lady who probably would have won best in variety for her little girl, or so the judge told her afterward, except that she'd accidentally dyed the bird pink/purple so he couldn't give her the win.  When I read the story, I thought it very odd and wondered how you could accidentally dye a bird pink...apparently we just learned! lau.gif

And thanks to all those who commented about my situation. I use to have a frizzled cochin hen, and I really wish I had her now. She would have been perfect for him. He actually reminds me of her, as far as personality. Anyway, I contacted a friend who has chickens to see if he has any cochin girls or anything about that size (he has a mixture of breeds, so maybe!).

Love my Silkies!

Well, it certainly does not ALWAYS happen, but I certainly would not recommend using it without a test shampoo on a bird where colouring doesn't matter.
