No problem, Marty!  The 4-H poultry leader should send you the advance listings for poultry shows, too.  And you can keep track of Opens with your extension office.

Peep-- those are gorgeous chicks!!!  Love their color!!

I'm having a terrible time getting my fertile eggs to develop!  I have two with blood rings now-- so they died!  Are silkie eggs really so tough to hatch??  I just can't seem to do it!  barnie.gif

I hatched this chick a couple of days ago. It is adorable but I think it's vault is too big as it is not quite right. I will be surprised if it makes it. I can see why some breeders don't like the vault. Yes, it has pink toes! All my chicks that are born with pink toes darken up fairly fast! :)

Oh no!! I'm so sorry! I haven't had any quit of the ones I got from my flock, but I did have a poor hatch last time. Only 8 out of 14 and I have no idea why.

Thanks to you and all who liked my little chickies!

Why is it not quite right? The vault isn't that big ?? I call these fat heads with the big wide heads...I have some chicks right now that have MUCH higher vaults.

Since its up against that basket does it have the 'backward' switch on? I've had some that want to keep reversing and going backward alot for a couple days then they straighten themselves out.

Yes, it seems to have a balance problem but this is day two and getting better. I have had higher vaults also. This one is real wide. I have two like that and the other has the same balance issue but not as bad. They get on there backs and have a hard time getting right. I hope its not a problem. They are adorable chicks and are as wide as they are tall. :)  I have been calling this color black because I had a girl like this and she is now a black as can be in the sun. You think it's drk. blue?
