With several comments about finding it hard to obtain good quality Brabanters, has anyone purchased from Sandhill? Where have you found good quality stock? If our town changes it's regs, this is...
-
I like everything about it except how it looks right now. I know it lays decently. It is a great part of my great waterfowl flock.
-
First, watching a runner duck run is awesome. They can find their own food. They aren't like pekins in water. Mine haven't started laying but I heard their decent.
-
Its not as fat and slow as a pekin, but its not frail either. I want a mallard but I don't want a flying bird. The rouen is great for that.
-
They are my calmest birds and are easiest to catch. They eat less than Pekins. I heard they also lay well, but mine are younger.

That is great..should be a sticky for helping chicks with splayed leg that have feathered feet. Does the vet tape just stick to the other side..no tape?Wonderful family, very understanding husband when it comes to chickens, dogs, birds, one big Golden Retriever, and thankful to the Lord for all!Wonderful family, very understanding husband when it comes to chickens, dogs, birds, one big Golden Retriever, and thankful to the Lord for all!post #16343 of 351024/11/12 at 7:10am
X's 200! How many are there? I had 14 hatch and thought I had a lot! So, that picture of the single one with the dark on the head..is that going to be a splash? I'm so wondering what color my baby is going to be. Maybe just a blue? hmm...

They resembled partridge as chicks, but are they truly partridge or are they just "mixed"? We've never raised partridge, so I don't have a clue really.
There are four different pullets here. The first two pics are of Jasmine...she is a very light powdery blue. The other three are darker. I have more pics of wing pattern, etc. if that will help identify the colors.
Thanks for your help :)
post #16345 of 351024/11/12 at 7:21amok, not the greatest photo for composition, but you can see the colors a little better in this photo.
Very front is a buff (3/8) then a white (4/3). Side by side is a black and a white from paint breeding (3/16). Then the baby buff (4/3) and a white (3/8).

They definitely look like partridgey birds...Splash partridge maybe? I've heard and seen partridge come out of BBS pens, so the white "sport" could have been hiding the partridge.
I really like #1 - I have been looking really hard for a similarly colored girl. I take it since their your daughters none are for sale - LOL (I can dream) I have a "Splash Partridge" boy who is gorgeous.
