KMH does not have the splash boy. You would need to contact Judges4 who has him. I believe she also has her birds listed in the buy/sell section if you'd like to contact her about price/pick- up, etc. Last I heard she still had a pretty partridge girl available too.

You NEED to have a product with "Carbaryl" in it.  Sevin is basically 95% talcum powder-- very safe and the rest is the active ingredient which is carbaryl-- that is what is going to kill your mites.  This kills them pretty fast-- within a few minutes they should all be gone.

Where can I find this product at? Thank you.

It managed to get in by going in between the dog run and the coop, pulling the fencing off on that side of the coop tractor. I put that side against the dog run cuz I knew it was a weak side until I could buy the last of my trim wood to sandwiche the last section of fencing. I am so mad at myself. I just ran out of money and still needed about $30 in wood, and was getting that on tuesday when I get paid again. I can see on the fencing where it tried to get in at other places as couldn't, so I know I did a good job there, but I thought that putting the tractor up against the dog run on its weak spot wouldnt give room for anything to get through.

Lesson learned. I am so mad I am in tears.

So sorry about what happened! We get so attached to our animals and I can only imagine how badly you must feel...Tina

I have a TON of wild birds in the silkie pens. I cant get them out. My mom feeds the birds so they are always there and she loves feeding them so it wont stop any time soon. So anyway i was out in the coops, and i was playing with my silkies when i noticed my white hen acting funny. She looked like she had mud all over her face so when i went to clean her up i noticed it was brown crusty stuff with a load of tiny little bugs. They are not big enough to count legs on so im not sure what kind of bugs they are. Some where red and some were black/gray. They look like tiny moving dots. By time i figured this out it was too late to save her and she died. So i examined all of my silkies to find my white 5 month old boy with the same issue. I treated it as mites, i used ivermec (spelling?) and not really much help. I used poultry dust, no real help then i used seven dust (all treatments spread out of course) and that seemed to controal the issue. Im on my 3rd coop cleaning also using DE and seven with new bedding and a dust sprayer to get nooks and crannies. I thought i was in the clear. Apparently, I was wrong...

Yesterday I went to check the silkies and my roo was hunched over, and very thin. He moved about with a wobbel and a crooked neck. The bugs are ONLY on his head. I dont understand it. I dont want to lose him too! ugh are the bugs mites? How do i treat this?? Im so lost and i dont want to lose my babies! I love my silkies. I have put a ton of time, sweat, money, and needless to say tears into them! Please help!

Here is a website that sells netting and shade cloth to cover runs and coops. I haven't purchased any yet, but am planning to buy some once our run setup is finalized. Tina

That's great!  Yay, when mine pipped the tiny crack first-- it was like another 6-8 hours before they zipped.

I found it at a local farm store.  We have an Atwoods here.  I don't know if you can find it at Walmart or Lowes...?  They usually carry the cans.  I buy the cans, too.

Hello! I'm loving my 4 BO babies and would like to add a silkie. Do they all have the great furnishings (not sure the technical term for all their feathers on their head and legs) or is that only some varieties? I see online some aren't as heavily feathered but perhaps that's an age issue also? Are they friendly for the most part? I have kids and don't mind shy birds but def don't want aggressive birds. Thanks!!! smile.png

I just bought Sevin Dust the other day at the feed store, and the owner told me they no longer package it in the bags!! Bummer, now you have to pay more, for less, in a shaker type container! Ahh, such is progress...

You can also find Sevin Dust at any garden center or Wal-Mart store.
