I adopted a duck today and she has black spots on her bill. She seems happy and alert, otherwise. The spots dont wash off, so it isnt just dirt. Anyone know what it could be? I will try to post a pic

What about green on the bill ?? I've searched and searched online looking for something. I see pics of other ducks with green blotchy looking bills, but nothing saying it's a disease or fungal infection.

One of my runners has the green. At first I thought it was algae, till I tried to clean it off. It doesn't scrape off with your fingernail either and the duck was quite put out that I tried to look on the inside...lol.

Other than that appears healthy and normal.

Sorry for hi-jacking the thread... :|

OK I'm going to jump in here today I noticed Daisy keeping hey eye closed and decided to check it out upon further inspection I found black dots/a little line around her eye nothing else I then noticed black spots on her bill and feet I tried wiping them away but its like they are freckles :-/ I also noticed some soft spots on her bill but can't remember if it was near any spots I did clean her eye and sprayed it with vetercyn pink eye spray and applyed the eye gel I figured it wouldn't hurt also her bill is very yellow she acts normal accept for her eye she is a year and five months old any suggestions? In the mean time I'm going to sit and observe and check the other ducks tomorrow I've been looking for answeres for 3 hours so please excuse any misteaks and unadded information please reply with any questions you have to help figure out what's going on I'll add extra information that may be important after my morning investigation thanks in advance

MY FEMALE PEKIN HAS A LOT OF BLACK ON HER BILL. STARTED WITH FRECKLES (THIS PIC IS FROM LAST YEAR) AND NOW ONLY THE TIP IS ORANGE. I READ SOMEWHERE THAT HOROMONES CAN CAUSE THIS, BUT MY FEMALE HAS HAD A LOT OF HEALTH PROBLEMS SINCE SHE GOT PNEUMONIA AS A YEARLING AND IS ON CALCIUM SUPPLEMENTS TO KEEP HER FROM HAVING TREMORS AND MUSCLE WEEKNESS.
