Live Fish? - Page 2

This is an interesting thread!

I have a lone catfish in a small 3 gal tank. He's about the size of my index finger. I hate him and he hates me back! I've been looking for a way to get rid of him. I don't have the heart to flush a live fish or not feed him and let him starve. Would it be cruel to throw him into the coop for the girls?

The mealworms in the pet shop are probably kept in a cooler. This puts hem to sleep so to say.
The meal worms are probably not dead
Once they reach room temperature they come to life again

We have a pond stocked full of gold fish, minnows, and koi from PS. Our chickens drink from the pond, even go in to the first step! BUT they have not shown any interest at all in the fish! The minnows will be swimming around them while they drink, nothing! idunno

I had a plocastamus once that got so big I didn't like him anymore.

We let him loose in a pond on a golf course.  I imagine he's huge now.

The Fish  wouldn't know what hit him  so  you might be construed as "cruel"  for about 4 seconds and I imagine  the fish  would have too many things  going on to fix blame on you.

Maybe try throwing them out onto dry ground?  I dunno.

Feeding a catfish to the chickens is more humane than keeping one in a 3gallon tank.  Healthier for both animals.

What kind of catfish is it and why do you hate it? While the ethics of feeding it to your chickens is debatable, I'm one of those that feel that if you have brought an animal into your home, you have a responsibility to it to look after it's well being. It didn't ask to live with you. Why not just take it back to the fish store? hu
