Thank you everyone. The vet will come tomorrow at 9 am.

I have enough eggs for a 2 dozen eggs to be ship tomorrow, but due to the possible threat of the disease, I cannot on a good mind send them eggs. May have to ask them to wait for the results to come back, or have someone else send them eggs.

I think the jersey calves look like little deer!  love.gif  Will it be a milk cow for your family?

How long will you have to wait to hear results on the blood test?

We want to have the cow for milk for family use, and will give the extra milk that we don't use for the chickens and pigs.

It takes a week before the results comes back, believe me, it will be the longest week that I will endure.

Mahonri, Here is a picture for you of Dreki and his group of pullets.  The wind was a bit gusty and Dreki's tail is a result of it!  By the pop door is Brella. From the left bottom corner to the top right corner, Kleo, Dreaki, Branda, Brynhildur and Kella at the oyster shell dispenser.

Kella and Brella are dreamy TOO!

Daron, I'm praying for you.

Was there someone buying your Icelandic eggs?

If so, I'd bet Boston would have enough to sell to someone.

Keeper of 18 hens,  3 PW Leghorns, 1 leghorn mix, 1 FBCMarans, 1 Australorp, 2 Olive Eggers , 1 EE, a Barred Rock, a RIR, a CQ, 1 Delaware,, a Splash Ameraucana,  3 polish, a Welsummer and 25 juvies of various breeds(6 Heritage Delawares, 1 SLW, 1Blue NN, 5 FBCMs, 2 Ameraucanas, 2 Olive Eggers, and 8 Alohas.) YIKES!  Time to SELL some chickens!

Thank you for your prayers, I really need them. hugs.gif

NotAFarm offered to take my place on shipping those eggs. I will need to email the guy to give him a heads up on my situation, and see if he wants to wait until the results comes back, since he had paid for them.

My Icelandics share the same pen with the peafowl, but the peacock is the only one that is having issues.
If my peacock does have MG, it would be interesting if the Icelandic's comes back negative, since Icelandics were reported to be immune to some poultry diseases. fl.gif

Make sure you do the sniff test. I know the eggs I sent you were freshly laid the day or two before. But, you have to do the sniff test test because they are very porous immediately after being laid and if they roll into water or mud they can absorb germs and spoil. The farm where these came from is on fairly steep land and they do roll.

PEE EWE  (or however you spell that). I had a stinky egg, Mary. The biggest one. It even started weeping. I pulled it out.  I'm afraid to crack it. Anyway, how do you crack an emu egg?  idunno.gif

Put it in a ziplock bag and then tap it with a mallet. I did that to mine to see if it had been fertile but it was just rotten egg. Emu eggs can get bacteria in them easily right after being laid and then it multiplies as they incubate. I guess it is difficult to coerce an emu to lay her eggs on dry ground with lots of soft nesting material. Go figure.

I was reading yesterday that some people in the hatch-a-long are seeing movement as early as day 31.

Daron that is a major bummer ! Lets hope it is a pea fowl thing only, I am rooting for the Icelandics !!    fl.gif

The Jersey cow is one of the sweetest natured cows in the world, along with the Dexter and the Gurnsey, but the Jersey bull is one of the most dangerous bulls on earth.

Yeah Kathy, I remembered on the Turkeys, Porter does have beautiful strains for sure.

We have a sunny morning coming on, temps to be in the 30s, eggs are coming along just great,

I am holding several hens for Daron and two roos, just in case, one of therm Isi, and one the white featherlegged rooster. So he has a good restart, but I pray that he wont need it.It is going to be a long week !

Life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens  thumbsup.gif
