Good Morning Icelandic fans!  (You know, of course, that fan is short for fanatic, and we are that about our Icelandics!)  I haven't been on much.  We have a wireless internet connection with a set amount of "time" (gigabytes) allowed and it doesn't last very long with this new platform.  sad.png  Once the Easter Hatchalong is done, I won't be "spending my time" over there so much.  I also haven't been able to take many pictures lately....our weather has been eerily warm and so spring clean-up is needed.  I did manage to get a couple of pictures of the mommas with their chicks for you.

White Java Krsytal with her five Icelandic chicks (these are from the main pen before I separated them, so who knows which male or female are their parents).

And here is Dufa (pronounced Duva) with the two chicks that were hatched from the Dreki pen (lost one, can't remember if I posted that I found it gasping, unable to peep, momma was looking at it when I picked it up and made no move to protect it, like she knew it was a goner, I held it for a while in the coop and then took it in the house and made it comfortable.  It died within the hour. hit.gif I believe it had something caught in it's windpipe from the way it acted.)

Michelle.......awww, adorable puppy!  (does something that big qualify as a puppy?)  What is the weight that they top out at?

Other Mary....beautiful pics.  So sorry you lost a baby.

Breeding Welsummers and Barnevelders.

Having an Icelandic in the coop is like having a 2 year old in the house - they are into everything and don't follow the rules.

I have zero chicken willpower.

I'm with Mahonri, the entertainment value of this thread beats everything on the boob tube. Or does that recall the JJ quest??

Life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens, and their keepers that need to be kept indoors before they hurt themselves laughing !

Icelandics, brought to Iceland by Vikings in the 9th century, winterhardy, freeranging, an ancient homestead breed that broods, a steady producer of white eggs.Very variable in color,  comb style  and feathering. Like Forest Gumps box of Chocolates, 'You never know what you are going to get". My  Homesteader Breeds;  Icelandic Chickens, Chantecler,  Delaware and Iowa Blues.

Mary that Judge Judy pic is hysterical!!!

Kelly, these dogs get to be about 100 lbs. Alessandro will likely be in the 120 range and I think Mia will be just a little smaller. And 90% of that weight is fur lol.png

I'll try and get a picture of them together today, the size difference is amazing. She moves FAST, taking a non-blurry picture of her is almost as hard as photographing Icelandic chicks
