Thats wise Mary if the goslings are thought safe the adults are usually pretty good, I have fed them though from my hand, goslings and adults, but generally its best to keep a few feet distance. I have sat on the ground and had a pair and their brood all around  me, literally. No fast movements, just hanging out.  Add in some wood ducks and its a perfect American waterfowl grouping, for me.

I can watch them for hours.

Kathy thats a beautiful broody you have there, what a mama she is !!

Life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens !

Icelandics, brought to Iceland by Vikings in the 9th century, winterhardy, freeranging, an ancient homestead breed that broods, a steady producer of white eggs.Very variable in color,  comb style  and feathering. Like Forest Gumps box of Chocolates, 'You never know what you are going to get". My  Homesteader Breeds;  Icelandic Chickens, Chantecler,  Delaware and Iowa Blues.

A pair has been visiting us about every other evening.

They made the turkey toms nervous when they came toward the coop.

I got some good video of them chasing a couple curious cats and the horses chasing them in turn.

Kathy, I checked in Exede and it is not available here.  barnie.gif

Molly tells me she is somewhat technologically challenged so don't go askin' her to post pictures anytime soon. (think jake)  lau.gif

I am still trying to get the gosling video uploaded. I have tried and failed more time than I can count. I could watch them for hours too Jake.  In fact, I do. There is one little guy who marches to the beat of a different drummer. If the other babies are in the water, he is out. If they are out, he is in. He is braver too and wonders a little farther away than the the others. If he come over her to the house, he is mine!

We are almost done spreading the sand in the exercise pen for the donkeys. It is working out pretty good. th.gif

If you are wondering how big the emus have gotten, here they are picking weeds off Jack over the fence!

Lastly, the pure white Icelandic chicks is still pure white.

I roll the ferret cage brooder out into the sunshine every day for them.

Ok the video is finally online! Please excuse the herky jerky. I was way across the yard on full zoom. Also please excuse the barking dogs at the end. We live with that 24/7 from our neighbors!
