So that's the plan, like it or not. I hope everyone will hang in with me while I go through the initial loss then the rebuilding process. I am hoping to hatch some chicks this summer so they will be at POL before next spring. While searching for the silver lining I realized now I'll have room for the turkey poults that will be arriving in the next couple of months. I will have room to grow them out, pick my trio and sell the rest.

 

Life is good, better with Icelandics. (Thanks Jake)

That pic is a riot Kathy! The wings are a hoot. 

 

Here's my broody report:

 

Raven, black AM took delivery of two zipped Cream Legbar eggs today from which hatched two females!

Splash Isbar got scared of her zipped Legbar egg and moved to another nest. Her egg was given to Raven. Here she is with her deer-in-the-headlights look. This is the same sweetheart who had the mesh wrapped around her mouth and neck. Can't even tell now!

Chatty Cathy my Welsummer is sitting on four wooden eggs. Sweet clueless girl.

The three Icelandics broodies are sitting on nothing. Tossing them off the nest doesn't seem to be working.

One of my icelandics finally went broody Sunday.. Everyday I move her to another nest box on golf balls and promise her chicks if she'll stay put... NOT a chance... she jumps right back into the favorite laying spot... even with no eggs there.. 

 

I tried again tonight.. if she'll just stick  I could put chicks under her tomorrow night.. they have started pipping in the bator.. hopefully I'll wake up to a bunch of fluffy tomorrow..

 

Then there's the 200 chicks in brooders in the family room for chickenstock this Saturday.. it's going to be fun!!  I got a box of bumper stickers etc from Nifty to give away as well..
