My hatch of CL is finished.  The numbers were going my way until the last two eggs threw off the count.  I had set 12 eggs and 9 went into lockdown.  They all hatched!  I got 4 cockerels and 3 pullets, and the 2 "white" chicks.  They are both fairly different, I'm thinking it is one of each, making my final count 5/4.

I'll post pictures later.  One is much lighter, with mostly only a light shading of reddish on each side of the head, so I'm guessing male.  The other has a light shading of reddish over the body, basically a light reddish overlaid chipmunk pattern, so I'm guessing female.  I'll post pictures later.

I read the legbar thread yesterday whenever I had time and am currently around page 61.  I'll have to find time to keep at it today between chores.

The difference between breakfast and chicks, is the temperature you use to "cook" the eggs!

What breeds do I have?  More than any sane person would own.

On a positive note you have at least 4 hens.

Absolutely, the hatch is totally in the realms of normal mathematically.  It's just I've hatched so disproportinately many males this year, I was hoping for this hatch to go the opposite.  But I'm not complaining about normal.  It could be MY normal of one girl and the rest boys.

Oh, and the two serama eggs, one hatched sticky and I had to free it this morning.  The other didn't pip and was dead in the shell.  They are a difficult breed to hatch, even eggs from your own yard.

I have a BO that insisted on being broody, she is currently sitting on six serama eggs.  We'll see what she can do.  Now I have to decide what to do with the BA that I have to keep shoving off the nest.  I really don't need two broodies in my HQ egg flock.  These girls are supposed to be taking care of all the egg laying duties for eating.
