my chickens have been snacking on my feed for weeks, when am i gotta get eggs! i'm goung to threaten them with a frying pan tomorrow...

How old are they and what breed are they?
Mine are doing the same thing....absolutely nothing...except eating and being cute. Two are well within the age of laying, but so far, nothin!

nearly 20 weeks and assorted breeds, RIR, BO, Minorca, silkie, leghorn, ret star.. and thats it...

Oh, can I relate!
I have Mille Fleur D'Uccles that will be 27 weeks tomorrow, and not one egg!!! They show all the signs of impending eggs: huge red combs (almost like roos, but no, I am sure they're pullets), squatting, and being eagerly "loved"
by their roo. But no eggs!!!!! Nada!!!! Nothing!!!! They just sit there and look cute. (They are pretty cute.)
Then I have 3 EE pullets and 3 Delaware pullets that are around 18 weeks. Yeah, I know they are still a little young, but I only have two little silkies laying, but they go broody about every 5 minutes; not enough to keep us supplied in eggs, and their eggs are so tiny to boot!!!
It would be real nice to have some standard size eggs!

I don't believe the winter thing...I still get a dozen a day.
