OK, @Kev I have a question once you answer Draye.
I just got back form the vet with Dumbledore (the Cream Legbar rooster that got attacked). He's doing well, but needs to be inside for a little while longer until his largest wound heals all the way. He's feathering in as well, doing well. And I have 15 of his babies with his Cream legbar girls growing in the incubator.
I had always intended to eventually do a Cream Legbar/Naked Neck cross, but now that it looks like Dumbledore will be out of the picture and indoors for a while longer, I'm thinking this may be there very best (and least disruptive) time to set up a few "dates" with a Naked Neck boy with the Cream Legbar girls, before Dumbledore comes back out (what he doesn't know won't hurt him!!!).
I think I've ruled out Snape because he doesn't generally like to share and I worry about introducing conflict once Dumbledore is back out. That leaves Apoc and Tank. Tank is crowing and I think he's ready - he's red with black tail (added bonus - he's NN genotype, so all babies will be Nn). Apoc is the one that was yellow downed and is now what you were calling wheaten with a Mahogany overlay (I think). Apoc has escaped his paddock several times now to go make eyes at the Cream Legbar girls through their fence with Dumbledore gone, so I bet he'd be FINE with a little matchmaking - downside is that he's Nn, so there would be fully feathered babies, which I would likely cull as chicks. (Only so much room/housing...)
Kev, can you comment on the benefits of one versus the other in coloring over a Cream Legbar? I'm leaning toward Tank, but wanted your input.
They're 20 weeks old now, here are some slightly older pics of them (about 15 weeks old):
(Do I need to send you chocolate or something to keep you on retainer as my chicken color consultant?!)
