Yea well, no one can predict how they will react to a situation until we are involved within it. After all chicks are rather small and dependent on their "parents"  

Finally got pics of my showgirls. They aren't the best pictures, but I will take more later.  Some look like they have greenish yellow feet, but that is the flash...they all have various shades of dark skin.  The black chick is a showgirl/frizzled cochin mix.....looks like it will have smooth feathers   .  I will put that one with Camo, my turken 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Enjoyed your pictures and look forward to seeing the little buggers develop.  I love showgirls.

 

       I had a gorgeous pair.  They were very funny. The female would have nothing to do with the male because life was very complicated at that time I separated the pair. Besides they were white and around here white becomes much too dirty so I am wanting blue, black splash so the dirt doesn't look so bad. 

We shall see how white they remain here!               I had a buff showgirl before I started over, and loved her! She was a beauty! I wasn't going to have them again, but I am glad I told the breeder to go ahead and throw the eggs in as extras!    I hope the black one is a girl, so it can go with Camo!

BTW- Camo is eight weeks old now. Should I be seeing hackle and saddle feathers on him now?

Never mind about Camo!   Found those saddle feathers in the sun this morning! 

I posted this on the Emergencies/Disease thread, but am putting it here hoping a fellow NN'er has seen this before:

I have a 5 wk old NN. I noticed these bumps on his neck about a week ago. They look like little clear round blisters. The old bumps are now scabbing over but new bumps are showing up in other areas of the back of his neck. The area is also raised. The best way to describe it is it looks just like poison ivy. If you look at the left of the picture where the skin is tented, on the part closest to you, you will see a blister.

There are 9 chicks. I just now noticed today that a couple more are developing what I can best describe as thickened skin on the back of the neck and tiny, tiny bumps. Also, it may be unrelated, but a couple the the "boys" have sort of crinkled wattles (but no sores on them). They are in a brooder pen in the garage on pine shavings, changed every 3-4 days, and were under a heat lamp until today. I open the garage door in the daytime so they can sun at one end of the pen.

I looks like pecking to me, or mosquito bites... How old is this one?

5 1/2 wks old in this pic. No pecking, they were blisters before sores. Also, no mosquitoes this time of year where I live...too cold and windy.


UPDATE 3/30 late afternoon: The blister seen in the pic has shrunk to almost nothing. The scabs too. On the other chicks showing this, hardly visible.
I wonder if it was just a rash. . . maybe a reaction to something in the soil since they had just been allowed out to dust bathe?

Set 22 NN eggs last night.

 

Hatched out 7 of them babies last week but sold them all.

KKK  Hope you can figure out what is causing it, could it be that the other chicks are picking the blisters, and popping them  but who knows what is causing the blisters.

 

my chicks go from the house brooder to an outside brooder that is raised 3' and the floor is 1/2" wire never seen that before.
