Good morning all I haven't been on in awhile and I have a none NN question. K ev ,what is a "lash egg"? Thanks Carol

Had to put a hen to sleep today. She was old, wouldn't eat, brittle in movement, couldn't keep up with anyone else. RIP. Luckyily I have babies of hers to keep her blood in the line. Just couldn' t let that hen suffer anymore.

Raising Show Quality Large Fowl Cochins in Black, Blue, Buff, and Splash. Standard Translyvania Naked Necks in Buff, Black tailed Buff, Red, Partridge, and BBR.

Thanks, poor girl. But shes in a better place now. I have 10 3 week old chicks and an incubator full due next month so it wont be that bad, also have cochins(large fowl) once they start to lay. Might do a cross between the NN and cochin fo rthe heck of it.

The chicks are 1 week old today and this was thier first outside outing.  Well and a pic of the hooda thrown in for good measure.

Kaussandra, Just wondering, with the scaleless gene, are they less prone to getting leg mites. I'd think so. That little russet colored one is so pretty. I really like these black skinned chicks. The only black skinned chicken I have is a Showgirl.

Thanks, not sure about the scale leg mites I've never had them in any chicken yet. There is only one part of the legs that does not have scales though. The darker chick carries scaleless, but the lighter one does not.
