Conflicting info: At what age do geese lay eggs?

Hard to tell, I took care of a injured canadian gander for a while, he sure was a feisty guy. Im on my cell so i'll look at the videos in whole tommorow.

I think the fact that she is a hybrid makes it so much harder... I dont even know what breed her honk matches. And shes mellow, she never honks indoors EVER... And not nearly as much as youd think even when we are outside... She mostly makes a go-go sound... Very sweetly and quietly.

@MasterOfClucker i was wondering if you had a chance to check out the videos or our YouTube channel to see if you can tell if shes a girl? If your too busy, i apologize for bothering you and i thank you for all your previous comments 😊 stay safe during these trying times!

I still think its a male after watching the video, although there are several reasons why its hard to tell, one being he is a mixed breed, for the most part, each breed can be partially distinguished by sound, males usually have a higher pitch voice while the females usually have a lower pitch, since he is a mixed breed it's hard to base off what she should sound like, its also harder to tell the gender of a goose when you don't have another one to base off of, for instance, males usually separate you from there female, they also have a more upright posture.

I say male with great uncertainty, If you are very curious about his gender, I suggest you take him to either an avian vet or an experienced breeder, they will be able to determine the gender though vent sexing.

So I’ve read that embden geese don’t mature until they or two or three years old, does that mean they won’t start laying or breeding until then? Also I’ve read where people said they’ve had embden that have laid at a year old.

I dont know about laying, but my Embden gander started breeding and being fertile within the end of his first year of life. Him and my younger grey saddleback pom goose had 1 egg we were able to hatch last year.

Geese usually begin mating any where from 9 months on. My female Toulouse was laying at 10 months my Embden gander was breeding at 9 months. Some geese are laying earlier but the norm is usually 9months or more from hatch.
